Zürich

Sant Kirpal Singh arrived in Zürich, Switzerland, from Stuttgart on 3 September at 10:30 a.m. and drove to the Nava Park Hotel where arrangements for His stay had been made.

Albert Paliwoda, the manager of a large yoga ashram in Zürich, called on Sant Kirpal Singh and had a heart to heart talk. He said that thousands come to his ashram to learn physical yoga practices, and many of them ask for guidance on the inner way. He had been in touch with various centres but was hesitant to recommend anyone to the seekers, because he was not sure if any of the people he had been in touch with could grant inner spiritual experience. The Master explained to him briefly the teachings of the Saints and how a beginning on the Path could be made after the grant of some first-hand experience of Light and Sound by a competent Master.

The Saints and the true devotees of God have all told of the Light and Sound. Whatever references I have found, by parallel study of religions, I have incorporated into the book "Naam or Word"; so if you are interested in the references you will find them there.

Masters want to take us into an entirely different world; and when you ascend above the body, you will yourself experience that audible Sound. A certain Saint says that the Sound, which is the God Power, the Christ Power, the Guru Power, is telling us to "Come children; He is awaiting us above." It is there, awaiting us, and is apparent in the form of Light, audible in the form of Sound, and leads the soul to its Source, where all is a wordless state.

Those who have succeeded in rising out of the cage of the body tell us that there are no other means of achieving this. So what steps must be taken? They tell us, furthermore, that to meet the Lord, the mind must come under control. Put one foot on your mind, and the next step will reach to the Lord's door. If anything lies between the soul and the Lord, it is the mind. All nine doors are tasteless; the Nectar is at the tenth. The Nectar, which can sweeten the mind, exists only at the tenth door – the strait gate – so enter therein; there is no other way.

At Zürich there was a large attendance in the Conference Hall of the hotel when Sant Kirpal Singh gave a talk at 4 p.m. In the night a meditation sitting was given to all at the Conference Hall of the hotel, with the Master explaining how the spiritual exercises should be done. About 100 persons took part and had inner experience, including Mr. Paliwoda of the yoga ashram.

The next morning at 9 a.m., the dear ones assembled in the Conference Hall to ask the Master questions. One of the question was regarding daily life and Sant Kirpal Singh answered:

Man has to develop all around: physically, intellectually, and spiritually. Thrice blessed is man. That does not mean that you should go on with only one aspect of life at the sacrifice of  the others. You should develop all around. Physically, you have to stand on your own legs: you have to earn money by honest means. You just have to lay something by for a "rainy day", and for your children, and  also to help others. The fact remains that we are all of the same essence as that of God, drops of the ocean of all-consciousness. We are all brothers and sisters in God, and God resides in every heart. Everybody is blessed – divine in nature. So you will have to be kind to everybody if you think you love God and that God resides in every heart.

Start from your homes: make your home a sweet home, a happy home. If one of you is not of the same views, well, have culture: don't impose your views on others. If you have got children, then set an example for the children by comport – I mean self-discipline.

Masters don't want you to leave the (work-a-day) world and go into the jungles, but to be living examples set for others. You make your lives, and set an example for the children who are the budding hopes of the coming generation.

So "All-knowledge" means service. "All-knowledge" means fellow feeling. "All-knowledge" means culture. And, ultimately, when you know that "All-knowledge", you become humble. This is the example you have to set for the world: to have veneration for all who are over your head, for all who are around you, and veneration for all who are under you.

A public talk was held at Kaufleuten, Zürich, at 8 p.m. The next day, on 5 September, Sant Kirpal Singh left Zürich.

Milan

Sant Kirpal Singh arrived in Milan, Italy, at 11:45 a.m. by air. A few disciples were at the airport to receive Sant Kirpal Singh, and followed Him to the Hotel Bristol, where He was to stay.

At 4 p.m. about 30 people assembled in the meeting hall of the hotel to hear Sant Kirpal Singh. Since this was His first visit to Milan, all the dear ones present were introduced to Sant Kirpal Singh. The Master said that He was glad to meet them all and asked them what they would like Him to speak on. The dear ones humbly requested the Master to give them any message He liked.

At 9 p.m. Sant Kirpal Singh spoke at the Yoga Institute to a large gathering. The audience seemed to be impressed by the personality of the Master and took many photos and movies.

Later that evening, the Milan group leader and others requested the Master to give Initiation on the following day to those who really wanted it. The Master kindly agreed and fixed the time at 10 a.m. So the aspirants began to gather in the Conference Hall of the hotel, and by 10 o'clock the hall was full.

He who is completely competent will simply tell you to "sit and see" – that is all. Then, when you sit you will forget the outer attractions; each and every one will have some inner experience, according to each individual's background. In the company of the Sant, you see the Lord within. How? The Master gave me the key to the inner door. He gives a portion of His own attention. He never says, "Do what I say and eventually you will get something." The true Masters' words are very clear on this subject. As long as I see not with my own eyes, I cannot believe even the Guru's words. The so-called master usually tells the seeker, "Follow my instructions, and we will see what happens – you are in my hands and even after death will come to me." But he never shows anything; so what is the proof of his words? Something practical must be received by the seeker. "A bird in the hand is better than two in the bush."

So, make your life an example of the teachings you follow – live up to them. If you have already got the connection, take the utmost care of it, and value it. If you have a strong desire to get it, then God Himself will make the arrangements for you. When you get the contact with the Holy Naam, remember it is the soul's very food. Furthermore, introspect your daily thoughts and actions and see where you have reached. Many ages have passed by since you were first given a human form, and many years have passed since you joined some religion; now consider, to where have you gotten?

As long as inner contact is not established and practised daily, and you do not avoid all that may lead you away from it – through self-introspection – then wherever you have reached up to now will be hidden by a dark curtain and your path of progress will be obstructed.

Sant-Kirpal-Singh--Schweiz-2

Today there is great awakening beginning. Some have got the answer, some have not; but the search to solve the mystery of life has been born all over the world. The day that question arises in the mind is the greatest day of one's life, for once it is born it does not succumb until it is satisfied.
